This unique vessel was found among the treasures that lie within the antique shops of Lisbon, Portugal. It was handcrafted in Istalif, Afghanistan, a village that has been famous for its ceramics for over 300 years. The most unique feature of Istalif-made ceramics is the special glaze that is applied to the finished pieces. The beautiful green glaze is made of ishkar, a type of mountain plant that only grows in certain northern provinces, and was central to the development of this distinctive ceramic tradition.
Good vintage quality, small irregularity in the glaze at the base of the vessel.
Water test before use.
Due to the delicate nature, all vintage is final sale.
